Ted Baker shopping trip and party!
Last week MODE had the opportunity to visit Ted Baker and learn more about the iconic UK brand. We did a little research on the company before visiting and were SO surprised to learn that Ted Baker has never advertised–yes basically it has grown into a phenomenal international powerhouse through word of mouth and out of ordinary marketing. We were also surprised to learn that Ted Baker originally launched as a men’s wear brand! Who knew? What started as a men’s wear line has grown to become of the BEST fitting women’s wear collection we’ve seen!
Now putting all of that aside, we were excited to get our hands on the beautiful dresses, cardigans, shoes and bags! And for a lack of a better word–we were blown away!
We’re excited about an upcoming event next week at Ted Baker (which we get to be a part of) but first we wanted to share 5 things we think EVERYONE should know about Ted Baker:
1- You have a chance to win a $300 Gift Card–but you have to keep reading to learn more about that.
2- Just because the decor and the clothes look like a million bucks–that doesn’t mean that’s how much they cost. We found a variety of items at every price range. From iPhone covers at great prices to flats for fall— all under $100! There is a variety of amazing cocktail dresses, cardigans, scarves etc. at fantastic prices!
3- Yes, it’s comfortable! I picked up a beautiful watercolor print dress that feels like butter on! I’ve even worn it to pick my kids up from school, and back to work. I was very surprised to find that many of the pieces were not only beautiful, but very practical and easy to wear.
4- The clothes are cut for all body types! I didn’t just find 1 or 2 pieces that worked with my body type [5'5" and curvy]—there were so many items that were flattering, sexy, and plain amazing!
5- And for the big news! We’re having a party with Ted Baker and you’re invited! On 9/19 from 6-9, we’re joining Ted Baker in Santana Row for a big party and we want you to join us!
We’ll be enjoying speciality cocktails, DJ, and a 20% discount (only during event hours) and a chance to win $300! We will also be at the event so come by say hi, and try on some beautiful Ted Baker pieces that are sure to steal your heart!
(The Ted Baker team and Hasti will be on hand to show you their favorite pieces!)
And here are some of our top picks from Ted Baker!
How to Achieve a Shine Free Complexion
Genetics, hormones, weather patterns – there are lots of factors that contribute to an oily complexion and, unfortunately, they are mostly out of our control. You may attempt to cover your oily skin with thick powders and matte makeup, but usually find that these products only succeed in clogging your pores and lead to frustrating break outs. If you are constantly battling oily skin, you’re certainly not alone. However, you can’t solve this problem by attempting to cover it up. Instead, you need to get to the root of the issue.
Don’t Over-Wash. Even if your skin feels slightly greasy to the touch, resist the urge to wash it more than twice a day. Washing your face too much will deprive your skin of the oil it needs and, instead of reaching a healthy balance, will force your glands to over-produce. Before you know it, you will have made your already oily complexion much worse.
Hands Off. Resting your chin on your hands during long hours at work or in class and touching your face every time you step in front of a mirror will only contribute to face oil. Besides the fact that our hands are perpetually covered in grime and bacteria, the oil from your finger tips can easily transfer to your face.
Use the Right Products. There are tons of facial cleansers that claim to “cut the grease” – but may include ingredients that dry out skin too much and cause redness and irritation. Instead, use a gentle cleanser, a toner and an oil-free moisturizer twice daily. When choosing cosmetics, select only oil-free products and consider switching to an oil-control primer formula that can help you create a more even skin tone – such as bareMinerals Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer ($23 bareescentuals.com).
While we may not be able to stop the ill effects of Mother Nature on our complexion, we can at least work to restore our skin to a beautiful, natural balance.
Melissa Gorga’s Vineyard Kimono Wrap Top
To most, the mention of wine country brings on happy, relaxing thoughts of sipping wine in a picturesque vineyard on a sunny day. The Real Housewives of New Jersey may have ruined that for me. After watching their 4 episode stint in California wine country, now the very mention of a vineyeard brings to mind secret phone calls, family fighting and x rated behavior going on in the grapes. Thanks a lot, ladies and gentlemen.
A good note? The money I won’t be spending on a trip to a wine tasting can be spent on Melissa Gorga’s feminine, printed faux wrap top that is a great piece to transition from Summer to Fall in. It can be worn in a hippie-chic style with a pair of high waisted jeans or in an edgier fashion by pairing it with leather shorts and heels.
The best part? Her top is well under $100. Even I’ll toast to that.
