Don’t Forget to Take a Picture

Ever in the store and spot something you absolutely love and wish someone was there to share the joy? Now there is a great way to share, with other fashion enthusiasts, a photo of those Tory Burch boots you have been obsessing over or the Prada messenger back that almost had you fainting. Check out the recently launched Snapette.com iPhone app and never feel like you are shopping alone.

This app works similarly to Instagram. For example, a group of your friends are out shopping and one of them spots a pair of Jeffrey Campbell booties they absolutely adore. They snap a picture of their fashion find and upload the photo to Snapette.com, which will feature the picture in the order it was received. By uploading the photo, detailing the brand, location and price, she has now made the Jeffrey Campbell shoes easy to find for other Snapette.com users. This is a great way to share with others your fashion finds you discover when out shopping.

Another feature of this app that I really enjoyed was clicking on the photos and finding out what cities the other users were uploading from. For instance, there are pictures of a Hermes side bag uploaded from Ginza, Japan and grey Jimmy Choo pumps found at a Nordstrom’s in Arlington, VA. To take finding products a step further, you can find the brand, location, price and even get directions to the store if you select on the shoe or bag. Like most social apps, you can follow users as well. In addition you can click “love” if you like a photo and make comments. Lastly, you can also share other user posts on your Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter.

The one downside about the app is that you can only upload photos of shoes and bags. Meaning no dresses, jewelry, makeup or scarfs. Since the company was only founded in January of 2011, I have a feeling this is something that will change in the coming future or at least, can only hope so. Otherwise, I think this is another great innovative app zooming in on fashion and creating an online social environment for fashionistas.

Don’t hesitate to download the iPhone app from the iTunes store and start sharing pictures of your favorite shoes and bags while you are shopping!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year!! No, not Christmas, but close – the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! For those of you not familiar with this FABULOUS yearly event, this sale is a Fall preview sale. Starting July 15th, brand new merchandise for fall is brought in at a special SALE price (I know how much everyone loves a good bargain) for 2 weeks only. After 2 weeks, everything is marked back UP to regular price. If you’ve checked out Hasti’s “Sneak Peek” on the MODE Facebook page, you already know about all of the great clothing and accessories.

Here are my top 5 must-have picks for this year’s sale:

1) The Cape – The cape is going to be the hottest trend in outerwear for fall. This trend is already big in Europe, and we’ll be seeing tons of European influences in fall fashion this year. The cape is a classic and must-have staple for your winter wardrobe. It’s classy and sophisticated, and will take the place of your favorite winter peacoat or trench. There are some great wool styles, but some super cute chunky sweater capes as well. Pair your cape with a skinny bottom to balance out your look.

2) Boots – This is the PERFECT opportunity to get a great price on an amazing new pair of boots. Living in Northern California, owning at least one pair of boots is a neccessity for fall and winter. This year there are some HOT boots from Tory Burch (these are already selling out FAST), Frye, and Steve Madden. Flat Equestrian style boots are going to be the #1 style which I’m a huge fan of because they are the most comfortable for walking around or if you’re on your feet all day (like me).

3) Faux Fur Vest – It’s ALL about texture for fall! Furry fabrics paired with leather leggings, textured coats with chunky sweaters, silky blouses paired with faux fur. Faux fur is a great way to add some edge to your outfit and to create a great layering look. Faux fur comes in lots of different colors and styles.

4) Leather – Leather is always a must-have for colder months, but this year it’s not just leather jackets and leather boots, leather bottoms (or pleather) will be a big trend as well! Leather leggings and leather shorts are making an appearance paired with that great faux fur vest I talked about. For even more texture, pair your leather shorts with some patterned tights or sweater tights. Leather looks great with lots of other fabrics and is always perfect for fall/winter.

5) The Satchel Bag – Again, another European-inspired style. The Mulberry bag was the hottest bag last winter (and still is a gorgeous classic style) amongst celebrities, and this short-handled bag remains the must-have shape for this fall and winter. Most also feature a removable long strap so you can switch it into a crossbody bag (which I LOVE!). Look for great vintage looking leather and details like belts, studs, and buckles.

Nordstrom Rack Fremont 3/24

Last night I had the chance to visit what starting tomorrow will the newest Nordstrom Rack location here in the Bay Area–and I fell in love! The new location is literally brand new, and it’s HUGE! This means lots of great selections and options for us shoppers. Even though it’s a Rack store you’ll be greeted and taken care of by a team that is trained under the golden Nordstrom rule of impeccable customer service.

We told you a few weeks back about the $2K shopping spree that is happening so make sure you read the blog, fill out the form and are there before 8:45 AM for your chance to spend 2K in 90 seconds. And if you’re wondering how you’ll spend that much in such a short time just follow my instructions.

90 Seconds in Nordstrom Rack Fremont:

1st stop- As you enter make a left and grad handbags [the L.A.M.B. ones right on the front at amazing!]
2nd stop- Men’s accessories; grab a few designer belts and move on to the HUGO BOSS jackets right behind them.
3rd stop- Leave your basket and go to the designer denim. Grab grab grab. All the newest styles, trends, and cuts. [Men's is on your left hand side.]
4th stop- Drop it all in your basket and go back into that area and pick from the top names in designer fashion. Burberry, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and etc.
5th stop- Designer shoes are in the back beautifully displayed in boxes. Grab and go! [Go up half a size since it's designer, I personally love the Elizabeth and James shoes.]
6th stop- Kids- BEST options for boys I’ve seen at any Rack! Grab tons because the prices are unreal. I got Burberry jeans for my son for only $42, and they had them as low as $35
7th stop- Get some fresh towels, handsoaps, SPANX, and Burberry sleepwear [why not?]
If you have time to spare, run into that middle section where the dresses are and grab a few from the amazing selection of Spring dresses and skirt, and run to check in!

There you go! Now you know where to be and what to get if you win. If you can’t go tomorrow morning make sure you take the time to visit this weekend. You won’t be disappointed with the choices, options, and the level of service. I can’t wait to see this store again, and a major welcome to them from MODE Bay Area!
