It’s that time of year again when the fog rolls in and we all start craving all things warm and comforting. And it is agreeable that instant ramen bowls get old, very fast. Most of us are definitely looking for a healthier option that is reasonable. That’s why shabu shabu or hot pot, is my go to! It’s healthy, filling and a little fun. Lucky for us, San Francisco has numerous shabu shabu restaurants to choose from. Most of you can find one right in your very own neighborhood. I found one just down the street from my apartment that always hits the spot. G Cube Cafe off of Taraval Street and 27th Street serves up some awesome portions for just around fifteen bucks!
Honestly I didn’t have very high [...] Continue reading →

San Francisco is one of the greatest places in the world for specialty restaurants. We’ve got entire establishments dedicated to only french fries, chicken and waffle sandwiches, and now pies! The trending pie movement isn’t exactly a new thing, but named by many publications one of the best resides right here in the city. The newly open Chile Pies, a few steps from Church Station, is the newest addition to owner Trevor Logan’s mini-empire.
When we stepped inside I instantly fell in love with the entire set up. It’s simple and straight to the point. They’ve got their menu of the day split easily between savory goods and sweet goods. Their menu consists of pies, pot pies, mexican stews a [...] Continue reading →

The seasons are changing and it’s starting to get chilly! So what sounds better than piping hot ramen on a foggy Bay day for under 10 bucks? I had a serious craving for some comfort food and found my way to a relatively new ramen joint on Taraval Street. Ramen Doraku is the place to go for some quick, satisfying Japanese ramen. It’s hard to miss the the giant red torii, or gate with dozens of wooden pallets inscribed with Japanese characters that actually reads their menu!
When we arrived, as usual I begin reading the quick tips and reviews from Yelp on my phone. From the looks of it, the place wasn’t bad at all! And the best part? I was tipped off to check-in and show it to our server for a FREE appet [...] Continue reading →
Marc Cohn at Yoshi’s San Francisco
On Tuesday evening, fans gathered at Yoshi’s in San Francisco to hear the soulful music of artist Marc Cohn. This was the first time I had attended a concert at this venue, and found Yoshi’s to be one of the best locations for a show that I had visited. Effortless parking, spacious seating, and excellent cuisine made Yoshi’s a memorable setting for a relaxing evening. Breaking away from the band, Cohn sang with only his guitarist Shane Fontayne for this very intimate performance.
The night began with some of Cohn’s classic numbers, like “Perfect Love,” a song about his brother and the innocence and thrill associated with young love. Other songs from the set included “29 Ways,” a rendition of Willie Dixon’s 1956 original. This is the only cover song Cohn produced prior to [...] Continue reading →

It’s no secret the Bay Area is home to high-quality seafood and numerous restaurants that serve it. The only thing is that most of the time they can be pretty pricey or not have those simple dishes you crave. However, a little bustling seafood joint on the corner of Market Street and 14th serves up the perfect variety of dishes you’d ever want. At Woodhouse Fish Co. they serve chowder, oysters, delectable melts and a cioppino to die for.
When we arrived at the restaurant we were starving and couldn’t wait to dig into our much anticipated meal. The menu is pretty simple but you’ll want to eat everything on it. We decided to start with the crispy calamari since we wanted somethi [...] Continue reading →

San Francisco, CA 94118
Most people would agree that the best restaurants they’ve been to are family-owned. If given the choice, who wouldn’t want a home-cooked feast? In my endless search for awesome Asian cuisine in the city, a craving for Thai food really got me digging. I wanted to find somewhere quaint and simple. Nothing too fancy or hip. I eventually found exactly what I was looking for. Hidden on a small strip of shops and cafes in the Inner Richmond is Tawan’s Thai Food. This place is a gem! A very cozy, teenie weenie gem.
If you’re driving too fast you will definitely miss it. Located on Geary Boulevard, under a 10-foot wide kiwi-green banner, sits Tawan’s Thai Food which serves up a variety of traditional and unique Thai dis [...] Continue reading →
