Why YOU Should Own Designer Jeans

I own about 20 pairs of designer jeans. I don’t own anything but designer jeans. People ask me all the time why I “waste” 100s of dollars on a pair of jeans. That’s where they’re wrong. Designer jeans are not just another purchase–they’re an investment!

I got my first pair of designer jeans on my 16th birthday. They’re a pair of classic Citizens for Humanity. 4 years later, I still have them, and they’re in great condition. Imagine, had I instead bought a pair of jeans from Old Navy or Pac Sun. I would spend anywhere from $25 to $50 for a pair of jeans. From my experience, the jeans start wearing out and fading from the first wash. After about 4 months, those jeans should not be worn out in public. So if we had spent $25 on that pair, multiply that by 3 (3 sets of 4 months a year), and multiply that by 4 (4 years that I’ve owned my Citizens), and you get $300 (if $50 jeans, the total would be $600). The retail price of a pair of Citizens is about $198. I bought mine from Nordstrom Rack, so they only cost $99. The savings are shocking, and I still own my Citizens.

The fact that designer jeans last is only one of the many reasons you should be rocking True Religions, or 7 for All Mankind. Designer jeans feel incredible on the body. If you have never even tried on a pair of designer jeans, you’re missing out! Each pair is made with only the best denim and meant to fit each and every inch of your legs, thighs, and butt. I recommend trying on several different brands and styles to find which suits your body type best. Personally, I am a huge fan of True Religions. I have a petite frame, and do not need the extra stretch. Each pair feels like it was personally tailored to fit my body. Not to mention, these jeans DO NOT stretch out! True Religion is famous for its thick, durable denim and unique stitching. There’s a reason why I own 5 pairs. Rock and Republics work for many body types, but if you’re petite like me, these jeans may need a little bit of alterations. 7s and Hudsons are great if you have a little junk in the trunk. Paige Premium Denim jeans run very small, so I suggest going up a size or two (these are perfect jeans for girls with a very slender physique). Other jeans you should definitely check out are Juicy Couture, Diesel, William Rast, and Rich and Skinny.

The great thing about designer jeans are that they NEVER go out of style. The cut, fade, and coloring of designer jeans is on point when it comes to light wash, medium, or dark. Your designer jeans make a statement. I must admit, ever since I became designer jean obsessive, I will not stop checking out people’s backsides to see what brand of jeans they’re wearing. If you’re not the most stylish person, but you want to be, designer jeans is the first and best place to start. It’s a practical and economic way to be incredibly fashionable. If spending $200+ on a pair of designer jeans from a department store is too much for you, I highly recommend buying your designer jeans for Nordstrom Rack. If you have never been to a Nordstrom Rack, you are missing out! With the same product and quality of Nordstrom, you will be sure to find hundreds of your favorite designer items at a portion of the retail price. Nordstrom Rack carries thousands and thousands of designer jeans from $50-109. You will NEVER spend more than $109 on a pair of designer jeans.

However, if money is not a issue, I recommend buying your designer jeans from a department store, such as Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. These stores offer great selection on the newest designer releases, incredible customer service, and a inviting shopping atmosphere. The salespeople are educated on each designer and style, and will be your guide to finding your perfect pair! The great part about the service at a department store like Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus is, if they do not have your size in the store, they can order it from another location, and deliver it right to your house. In addition to this, such department stores offer free tailoring services for denim purchased from their stores. It is nice to have that one on one service to create your unforgettable shopping experience.

So if you do not own a pair of designer jeans, what are you waiting for? With all that each pair has to offer, you have no reason left to say no.

Designer Purse 101

If there is one question that I always hear when it comes to purses it’s, “What should my first designer bag be?”

There are so many ways to answer this question. But I think the bottom line is this, your first high end bag should be something that you absolutely love. Probably a purse that you’ve eyed for months or even years. You have likely saved for sometime to get your first “high end” bag, or maybe you’re celebrating a special occasion in your life. Either way, it’s something you want to have forever, or at least for a good while.

These my suggestions for your first purchase:

1) Quality. Choose a bag that is made of a material that won’t wear down after a lot of use. Being that it’s your first bag, you’ll be so excited that you probably won’t want to use any of your old bags. Pick leather or something that will last. That being said, avoid denim, fabric, PVC, and anything that might wear out easily.

 2) Size. Choose a bag that is not too big, and not too small. This makes your transition from day to night easier than with a small clutch or a large tote.

 3) Budget. Keep to your budget. There is no point in having a bag that you can’t take anywhere because you’re broke. Even if you’re tempted to get something else, go in with a plan and stick to it.

 4) Value. Expensive does not mean quality. Research various bags, and see what others experienced when it comes to how well they’ve lasted. The purse/brand may be just a fad and you shouldn’t waste your money on something that isn’t worth it.  A great resource is the purse forum/purseblog.com, where thousands of purse lovers will give you great advice!

5) Color. Neutrals are best. Stick to a neutral purse and can be worn frequently. The purse should be versatile and not something that can only be worn occasionally.

My top choice for a first designer handbag would be the Louis Vuitton Speedy.

Louis Vuitton Speedy

I know it’s very popular, but there is definitely good reason for that. It’s a great transition purse, has exceptional quality, and is lightweight. I have found that even when I stuff it, it surprisingly does not feel heavy.

What was your first designer purse, or what do you want your first high end purse to be?

J’tote – Mixing business with pleasure

We live an ideal time when it comes to technology. It feels like almost every week a new phone, laptop, or electronic device is released, and of course–you have to have it. Items are becoming sleeker, thinner, and chicer with each new release. So shouldn’t what carries your things be as stylish as what is being held inside?

Laptop cases can often be bulky and unattractive. The trendy cases are often impractical, giving just a thin layer of protection for your laptop. If we claim that our “entire life” is on these precious devices, maybe it is about time we started taking more care of them. The solution j’tote provides is both fashionable and practical–protecting your laptop from damage, as well as looking good in the process.

Just like their tag-line says, j’tote is a laptop bag as chic as you are. These leather bags work as both a purse and laptop case in one. Coming in variety of sizes, styles, and colors, there is one for every woman. Designer Anna Vahey has created a bag that allows for both functionality, as well as exceptional style.
