A Love Affair With Dresses

luvafair
Have you ever been in love with a dress? I have a long history of falling in love with dresses, from a daisy print mesh number in the 90’s as a teenager (Contempo Casuals anyone?) to this Marchesa runway stunner: Photo: Filippo Fior / GoRunway.com I have been in love with it since it walked down the runway in February for Fall 2012. It seems I am always in love with one Marchesa dress or another, but there is no way that I can simply purchase one every season. (One day, perhaps. I can dream.)So what is a girl to do but look at all of the other gorgeous gowns of the world with slightly smaller price tags? This Twelfth St by Cynthia Vincent maxidress has the same airy, feminine appeal, but is fit for daytime: Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent This rose printed dress from Anthropolog [...] Continue reading →

Sweet Embellishments – Eyelet for Spring

headereye
I surprised a friend the other day when I passed by Club Monaco and commented that I wanted a pair of the shorts in the window. They were out of character for me because they were #1 white and #2 eyelet. He wondered if I was feeling alright. The truth of the matter is, I am feeling great about spring and summer and cannot wait for higher temperatures to take over. Eyelet embraces the feminine themes that the floral and pastel trends are nodding to, but seems to be a better style match for me personally. I think that for some of us, eyelet can be a safer alternative as it comes in all of our traditional neutral colors: navy, black, nude, white. I am also tempted to match all of eyelet’s sweetness with a leather jacket or big heels; anything to juxtapose the sweetness with a bit of edge. H [...] Continue reading →
