Summer is upon us, and along with the sunny season comes the annual family vacation getaway. Whether you’re jet setting off to some exclusive tropical locale or simply heading on a road trip to hang with the in-laws, we have a few easy-to-manage beauty tips to keep you fresh-faced on every excursion.
First, invest in some travel sized beauty items to bring on board. After the TSA laid the crackdown on liquids over 3 oz, many companies started releasing mini sizes of their most popular products. For example, TREsemme has released a 2 oz version of their hit Fresh Start Dry Shampoo (about $3 – $4), which is a godsend for those of us who suffer from “airplane hair.” Additionally, many beauty stores sell trial sized versions of their most loved products.
Next, if you’re not concerned about appearances during your trip, wait until the end of your journey to do your makeup. Airport and rest stop touch ups can help, but applying fresh makeup on top of melted makeup and sweaty skin may not yield the results you’re aiming to reach. Instead, save this step, along with a spritz of perfume and a quick teeth brushing, until just a few minutes before you reach your destination.
Last, keep a little beauty emergency kit on hand at all times. Include a small comb or brush, mascara, concealer, blush or bronzer and lipstick as well as any small item you might need in the event that your luggage is lost at the airport. A tiny kit is also handy for car trip in which there isn’t much room to spread out all of your supplies. Of course, if all else fails, you could tie on a scarf, pop on some shades and convince your fellow travelers that you’re a famous star. Bon voyage!
