What is BB Cream and Why Do I Need it?

BB cream

If you follow Asian beauty trends or picked up a popular beauty magazine within the last couple of months, you may have heard the buzz about a new “it” product called the BB cream. Some women claim it’s like magic in a tube while others are still a little skeptical. It seems like trendy beauty lotions are a dime a dozen, and it might be hard to believe that we’ve somehow unearthed some new miracle serum guaranteed to cure your dermatological ailments. Luckily for you, we’ve done a little research to investigate what all of this hoopla is really about.

Essentially, BB cream (short for Blemish Beauty cream) is an all-in-one formula that acts as not only an anti-aging moisturizer, but also a concealer, sunscreen and ultra-light foundation. Created by Hungarian skin care line Omorovicza, the Complexion Perfector BB Cream SPF 20 (about $125) is chalk full of Vitamin B and amino acids, which aid in cell regeneration. Additionally it contains hyaluronic acid, a chemical often used for joint pain, which works to plump skin and reduce the look of wrinkles. Omorovicza is one of the only brands of BB cream that does not contain silicone.

In terms of use, it depends largely on your current daily beauty regimen. Some women have used it as a before-bed moisturizer, others as a primer before adding other makeup and others as their only foundation. While the ability of any non surgical product to actually reduce the effects of aging on a long term basis is still generally up in the air, the product does seem to make good on its claim of reducing imperfections in the skin. So whether you are looking to lighten your wrinkles or simply want to even out the tone of your skin, BB cream might be worth a try.
