Step Into My Garden: The New Florals

Screen Shot 2012-03-12 at 9.56.15 PM

When I was a young girl I associated floral patterns with delicate old ladies. I still get a phantom waft of heavy perfume when I see florals that are super-feminine or overdone. The spring runways were overrun with blooms (the most amazing ones were at Valentino’s Couture show) but this season’s prints are bold, wearable, and chic: Nothing old lady about it! As spring is starting and we begin to see the flowers emerge from the ground, perhaps these options appeal to you as well.

I would pair any of the following pants with a solid lightweight sweater to anchor the look, such as this one from the Gap.

Modcloth Pretty Plants Pants

Citizens of Humanity Mandy Floral Roll Up Jeans

J Crew Café Capri in Floral Sateen

An alternative to all of those bright colors for those who like a more understated floral. LeifNotes Lotus Bloom Wide Legged Pants.

Since we are all shopping for the perfect spring dresses, here are a few additional options for florals that don’t scream “old lady.”
