One of this years biggest trends going into 2012 is proving to be bright colors! You’re going to be seeing them on everything, and that includes your lips. As someone who has mainly stuck to neutral lips this was a big transition. But one that I’ve ended up loving. I now own a bright color lipstick, lipgloss, or lip liner is every bright color possible. I started off with Orange and it still remains my favorite, but I do love a mean “orange-red”, and the fuchsias are killing it too!
Here are a few simple tips for taking the plunge and going bright!
Experiment: Head over to Sephora or MAC and ask for some expert advice and try out a few shades. If you’re on a budget find inspiration there and grab a lower priced version. A great option is the Cover Girl Lip Perfection from Pat McGrath.
Keep the rest of your makeup simple. Use a tinted moisturizer, or a light foundation for a base. Stick with a minimalist eye with just mascara, or a black or dark brown liner and no shadow. Define your cheek bones with a little bronzer and call it a day for a clean day time look. I would personally use a liquid liner and work the cheek bones for a night time look, but keep the focus on the bright lips for evening too. Just add gloss for a little extra night time sex appeal.
Matching your lips and clothes: A don’t or a do? You might be surprised that this isn’t a no anymore. But use caution. My favorite is still to use contrasting colors. But if this is done right it’s looks clean, and flawless. But make sure your entire “look” can pull this off. It can either go very “Great Aunt Maxine”, or fashion forward and chic.
WERK it girl! This is trend is not meant to be worn for the those who plan to hold their head down. Exude confidence and swag. That’s right. Swag. Work it girl, because you and your lips are looking amazing!
