San Francisco is one of the greatest places in the world for specialty restaurants. We’ve got entire establishments dedicated to only french fries, chicken and waffle sandwiches, and now pies! The trending pie movement isn’t exactly a new thing, but named by many publications one of the best resides right here in the city. The newly open Chile Pies, a few steps from Church Station, is the newest addition to owner Trevor Logan’s mini-empire.
When we stepped inside I instantly fell in love with the entire set up. It’s simple and straight to the point. They’ve got their menu of the day split easily between savory goods and sweet goods. Their menu consists of pies, pot pies, mexican stews and even a frito pie! Their beverage drink is also quite extensive, they serve everything from wine to their amazing pie shakes. I was pretty mesmerized by all the choices and had a hard time choosing. But, I finally made up my mind and got a slice of Mexican chocolate pecan pie a la mode. You can’t go wrong with pie and ice cream, especially when it’s Three Twins organic ice cream! My boyfriend decided to tackle the delectable pie shake. A pie shake is basically what it sounds like, a slice of pie blended with your choice of ice cream. Sounds amazing right?
My slice of pie was pretty great! They warm it up right there which takes less than five minutes. And the Three Twins vanilla ice cream couldn’t have gone better with it. The Mexican chocolate pecan pie is perfect if you’re craving something sweet but nothing with too much chocolate. It’s not overly sweet and has tons of caramelized pecans! Oh and the crust? Flaky, buttery and crunchy. As for the pie shake, woah! My boyfriend had it made with vanilla ice cream and a slice of their apple pie. This shake surpasses all the other shakes you’ve had. It’s a perfect balance of rich ice cream and sweet chunks of pie. I definitely recommend this if you want a sweet snack, it’s even easy to take on the go!
Chile Pies should be your go to place for a snack or even a meal. They have personal vegetable and chicken pot pies baked fresh daily. They’re made with a cheddar crust and served with a side of Mexican green chile. I’ve also heard great things about their Frito pie. I’ve never had one but ground beef, beans, chile and cream on top of Frito chips almost sounds too good to be true. In the mood for something lighter? Go for one of their Mexican stews like a chile stew or chicken posole. One of the best things about this place is that everything on the menu is under ten bucks! It’s a perfect place for a date night or dessert for the kids.

Yum, looks tasty!
Ughhh!!! If only I lived near there. Looks delicious!!
Do you share the recipe for the Mexican Chocolate Pecan Pie and Honey Buttermilk Pie’s? I would love to try them. We live in N.C., so I know we won’t be able to fly over and try it…but it sounds yummy!!!
