I recently learned about Peace Love World and fell in love with so many things that I didn’t know where to start! For one just my couple of PLW pieces have been instrumental in having me look like the fashion editor I am when I’m running out of the house late and taking my kids to school. I’ve also found that one runs better when they look cute, and lounge wear that doesn’t make your husband cringe is definitely a good thing.
PLW has brought the perfect combination of comfort, class, quality, and fun to my ever struggling casual wear and have opened up my eyes to a world of sophisticated sexy clothes. It’s no wonder that the brand is quickly gaining a celebrity following and families all over are adding more and more of these pieces to their wardrobe!
I was so excited to be able to take some time and talk to Alina Villasante about her line, her passion, and what we think is an amazing huge heart filled with lots of love on a mission to spread it all over the world!
MODE: What was inspiration behind starting this collection?
PLW: My inspiration is for people to know that you must become love in order to attract love and that peace plus love creates your inner happiness. This is done in a form of fashion so that you can wear what you inspire to be, and feel what you are wearing. You cannot have a frown and wear a happy face. Wear what you are or what you inspire to be.
MODE: What message is the collection trying to spread?
PLW: Feel good. Look good. Be good
MODE: What charities are you passionate about?
PLW: Breast cancer, orphans or children in need (in Haiti, Zanmi Bene) and Autism. All three causes I personally feel in my heart and it’s important to not just give, but to be involved.
MODE: Who is the PLW client?
PLW: Everybody is a client. From high school to college students, their parents, their grandparents and their babies.
MODE: What sets the fabrics and qualities of this line apart?
PLW: What sets the quality of the line apart are the fabrics & yarn I put together to create the perfect blend of softness & luxury for casual living. I am adamant about only using the best cotton such as Pima mixed with Modal or Tencel to give the consumer the feeling of freedom & comfort these fabrics provide. I also believe that fit is incredibly important which is why I have my own full time pattern maker & seamstresses that makes the first sample in-house. We go through a fitting process which includes our fit model & the average girl. No item goes into production until both are feel great in it!
MODE: What is your favorite quote?
PLW: “Love is not something you look for, Love is something you become.” -Alina Villasante. This quote is very deep with a true meaning. To find love you must be love. Be loving. Love attracts love. To me, it says it all.
MODE: And if you had to chose between peace or love…what would you chose?
PLW: Love. Love is the root of all. Being it, finding it, living it. It’s the key to peace and the key to happiness, and sometimes the key to chaos. LOL. So if I had to chose between peace and love I wouldn’t chose. One works with the other. Love with Peace is true happiness.
MODE: What inspires the messages on your clothes?
PLW: What inspires the messages on my clothes is fashion with a purpose. I believe what you have on not only feels good, looks good. Your day can be that much better. Like they say, your words and your actions become who you are. If you are wearing love every day or happy every day, it’s a reminder of the person you are aspiring to be and it brings you that much closer to achieving your human goals. Feel good, look good, be good.
