Limited-Edition T-Shirt Collection Designed by Alice Waters, David Byrne, Dave Eggers,

Maira Kalman and Sofia Coppola to Support Edible Education

The Levi’s® brand has partnered with food activist Alice Waters and friends to celebrate 40-years of the ‘Delicious Revolution.”  Since 1971, Alice and her restaurant Chez Panisse have brought together farmers, producers, chefs, educators, journalists, politicians, and artists in an effort to transform the American food landscape. On Wednesday, August 24, the Levi’s® brand will host a special “school lunch” on San Francisco’s Maiden Lane, featuring organic and locally sourced box-lunches, the launch of a limited-edition t-shirt collection designed by Alice Waters and a host of creative luminaries, including: David Byrne, Sofia Coppola, Dave Eggers and Maira Kalman and a book signing for Alice Waters’ new book, “40 Years of Chez Panisse, The Power of Gathering.”

Proceeds from the sale of the 100% organic cotton T-shirts support the Edible Schoolyard Project, a national organization that integrates garden and kitchen education into grade-school curriculum. Starting August 24, the shirts will be available in select Levi’s® stores around the country and online at levi.com.

“Both Bay-Area icons, Levi’s® and Chez Panisse are recognized widely for their consistent, authentic values and an enduring commitment to sustainability,” said Robert Hanson, global president of the Levi’s® brand. “The Levi’s brand first collaborated with Alice Waters and the Edible Schoolyard at the Levi’s Print Workshop, where they created beautiful letterpress and silkscreen posters, hosted student workshops, and invited Bay-area leaders for a 4-course organic dinner. We are proud to continue this partnership and help promote a healthy, sustainable future where food is organic, grown locally and available to all.”
