This last Saturday evening, the highly anticipated Nigel Who? fashion show brought hundreds from all over the Bay Area. For months, we have been awaiting the final reveal of the collection from designer Ronnie Bogel. While many have seen photos, video, and interviews in the days leading up to the fashion show, we had all yet to see the final product. Held at the Children’s Discovery Museum in Downtown San Jose, seats were arranged around the runway, and lights all around to illuminate the unique location. When we arrived, photographers took photos of guests, as they picked up hors d’oeuvres and made their way to their seats. A ten dollar donation got you a Nigel Who? t-shirt, and helped to benefit schools in Alabama.
As the starting time approached, we took our seats ecstatic to finally see the completed collection. Largely compiled of black and white pieces, the collection varied from everyday looks to evening wear. Bold expressions of color made their way in burgundy, teal, purple and gold. The collection had a clear flow, with each design meshing together, and piecing to create a thought-out and put-together line. It was no doubt that Bogel had placed every bit of creativity and passion into constructing the nigel Who? collection. The audience was clearly impressed as well—giving applause for several of the looks throughout the show. The pieces themselves were an assemblage of inventive stitching, draping, and innovative use of fabric.
Showcasing many of the looks from the collection, it was hard not to find several pieces to love and want to own. With the mixing and matching capabilities of the designs, many of the pieces can be worn an endless number of ways with one another. A few of my favorite pieces included the infamous red dress, the short twisted black skirt, and the Nigel Who? flower tank. The show ended with the most colorful pieces of the collection and one model coming out wearing the much talked about “Southern Inspired” wedding dress with flowers in hand—the symbol of the Nigel Who? collection. Naturally, the audience was on their feet as designer Ronnie Bogel came out to the runway, being greeted by a well-deserved standing ovation.
While San Jose is well-known for many different thing and industries—fashion has yet to be one of them. With this recent production from Nigel Who?, things may be taking an interesting turn. The Nigel Who? collection is currently available for sale via the Nigel Who? website. For more information about the brand, be sure to check out the Nigel Who? Facebook page for updates!
