I’m very excited to share with you my experience with the MAC Big Bounce Shadow Collection. They sell for $16.50 per pot, and will be available on May 5th at MAC Stores and MAC Counters.
“Elevate your state of mind with a high-altitude collection of sensually spongy watercolour whipped mousse cream shadows in 16 hues that fly higher than gravity’s rainbow. A new formula innovation in luminescent washes that build from sheer to medium easily. Eye plumage is playful with four limited-edition shades of Zoom Lash Mascara certain to unleash a torrent of tweets.”
I’ve been playing with them the past few days to see how they wear, how long they last, and if they look as good on as they do in the jar and here is my experience with them.
Wear: I first used a brush and quickly gave up on it. I found that the heat from my finger and the texture of the shadow [which is more of a cream than a mouse] worked together really well. This especially came in handy since most of my days consist of a 5 minute makeup ritual as I run out the door with the kids. On day one I wore the most sheer color “Trophy” and just added it to my normal routine. It added the perfect extra sheer bit of color. I used “Count Your Assets” on day two. Again I went for the sheer look during the day, which looked almost silver and then added another layer when I was going out at night with some black liquid liner. Perfection!
Durability: Do they really last all day? Yes they do! I didn’t have any problems with them rubbing off. They lasted even when little sloppy kisses from my son took over my face. I did lose a little bit of the shimmer through out the day but nothing that really showed.
Texture: The texture like I said is more like a cream. It takes about a minute for it to dry, and I recommend waiting that time to add more color and make the shadow darker.
Fun Fact: You can mix the colors to come up with your own perfect shade! I plan on picking up the Elite when the collection launches on May 5th. It’s the perfect white in my opinion.
Here are the colors and you can see how it easy it is to build up. The 1st line is one coat, the 2nd line is two, and the 3rd line is three. Now on the darker color I did notice some cracking when I didn’t build up, and just went to town with a thick application. I think that is why MAC asks that you build up. Once I did that I didn’t have the cracking issue and I never had it with the lighter colors.
