After committing myself to discovering the amazing restaurants I know exist in the Mission, this was the first place I stumbled upon(via the much better site Yelp). What really attracted me to making this the first place I tried was their constantly changing menu. This could only mean one thing: everything is fresh, no excuses.
My first impression was, ‘Um. Why is it so empty…?” It had nothing to do with the food. Turns out we walked in like fifteen minutes before their lunch hour was over. (They serve lunch until 3 and dinner starts at 5:30) We definitely had no problem with this since we got our food in about 10 minutes and got to watch one of the two chefs prepare for dinner. He was cleaning up an entire cow’s tongue, connected with jaw bone and all. Definitely the first time I saw that. The restaurant itself was very simple and open. Across from the bar overviewing the open kitchen was an entire wall filled with cooking bibles. I assumed you were welcome to glance over these during your meal, or this was where the young chefs found their daily inspirations. When you make your way to the back of the restaurant there’s a little surprise. A small bakery! It’s called Knead Patisserie and it’s pretty adorable. They’ve got petite pastries and a wine, coffee, and tea list. We didn’t sample anything ’cause I was too excited for the mexican bakery across the street.
We started off with their seasonal lemonade which I wasn’t a huge fan of. But then again, I like more than necessary amounts of sugar in my lemonade. My boyfriend said it was good, I’d trust his opinion. He got the pork rillettes sandwich. Pork rillettes is pork meat that has been picked apart into teeny weeny pieces after being cooked in its own fat. The pork was so soft and almost creamy. This was REALLY good. It went perfectly with the beer mustard. And it had fresh arugula along side picked veggies which I loved!
I got the corned beef tongue sandwich. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this one. It came with thinly sliced beef tongue, fresh arugula and this sort of couscous salad. I think it’s the fact that I could see the taste buds that threw me off. As for the taste, it wasn’t anything too exciting. But I definitely enjoyed the bread it came on. Light and fluffy, brushed with olive oil and toasted. Perfect. Both these sandwiches came with a super yummy potato salad. I tasted a hint of mustard. Awesome! Our meal was definitely filling and came out to be just above $20! We’ll definitely be back for dinner sometime, oh! and those pastries.

Wow ! it is really a good restaurants. I am happy with your post. All the restaurants looks so clean and neat. I like the interior of these restaurants.
