This is not one of your Yogurtland, Tutti Frutti, or Orange Leaf self-serve yogurt dessert places. You know the fast food yogurts that you pour into your Big Gulp sized cup and pay by the ounce… winding up with more yogurt than intended and too many toppings and suddenly you’re at a register paying $5-something for a pile of rapidly-melting, mediocre yogurt.
Nor is Fraiche one of the gazillion flavor yogurt emporiums in the vein of Pinkberry or Red Mango. You won’t come away with a lychee and starfruit swirl topped with dried chili-mango chunks on a bed of Fruity Pebbles.
Fraiche has carved out it’s own niche in the froyo game: It’s fresh, simple, mouthwatering deliciousness. Not your average yogurt, you have a choice of fresh yogurt or frozen yogurt, both are organic and made on the spot. The fresh yogurt selections include whole milk, 2-percent and nonfat, while there are three addictive frozen varieties, all bringing rich flavors: fat free natural, valrhona chocolate and lactose-free soy.
Once I find a flavor I like, I tend to stick with it, and since the “Swirl” (valrhona chocolate and natural) was my first taste, I’m sticking with it! I order mine with strawberries and chocolate shavings (shaved from a continent-sized bar right in front of you)—chocolate dipped strawberries anyone? Pure decadence!
My better half prefers “The Chronicle Special” greek yogurt mixed with steel cut oatmeal w/ Blue Bottle coffee (one of the Bay’s top roasters IMO) for our Sunday morning breakfast/treat. You get your choice of toppings as well which are crazy good. The wide selection of toppings leans heavily on fresh fruit, nuts and grains (nope no Cap’n Crunch here) along with two types of honey toppings and um… dare I say it? Homemade MOCHI! Yeah I said it. To die.
Have I convinced you yet? Do natural and healthy adult and kid friendly ingredients disgust you? Fine. If not did I not mention this is the best. yogurt. ever. And totally guilt free?

I’m telling you make that drive to Palo Alto and try this out for yourself if you already haven’t. This is a must if you are in the area, and I if I lived closer, I would probably be here every week.
