Each season Prabal Gurung fans eagerly await to see what spectacular designs the ever so humble but incredibly talented designer will have walk down the runway. And this year the wait was well worth it!

The collection was the perfect combination of color, design, and sex appeal. Every model that walked down the runway seemed to have tapped into an inner seductress that she never knew existed. And what woman wouldn’t feel like a complete goddess in these stunningly beautiful gowns made of lace, and jaw dropping red tones? And let’s not forget what a little black dress done right can do!

My favorite look was the show opener. A classy, sexy, one shoulder gown in a rich scarlet red color. What is your favorite look from the Prabal Gurug Fall 2011 Collection?

Not a fan of any of it… the off-shoulder number just looks like her sleeve fell down and she failed to pull it back up. Can’t get excited about these. I still don’t know why models seem to always either look completely bored, or absolutely fuming angry on these catwalks. Why can’t they have fun?

Anne, if you were to go to a fancy French restaurant, would you want them to be playing hip hop and letting people talking on their cell phones while you “enjoy” your $100 meal? Probably not. There is a mood being created by the designer to showcase the clothing, not the models’ personalities. If they were modeling 50′s era poodle skirts, then you might have a valid point. :)

Hi St Amour4, thanks for your post… Of course I would not like the music to clash with the mood, and I understand that designers are trying to create a mood… but I have yet to see any catwalk image of a model (from any designer) that does not have the stoic, practically angry face on (I was also at the “Pink” event at Wesftield Valley Fair and felt the same way–only one model actually broke her expression and it immediately lightened up the whole place.). The mood for these gowns should be glamour, or seduction, or high society… but the models’ expressions take away from the outfits, in my opinion. Put that same dress on a model who is trying to seduce the audience with her expression and I’d probably think differently about the dress. :)

  2. I LOVE the red and pink chiffon high collar dress. That would be a gorgeous fancy date night dress. I’ve never heard of this designer but I really like a lot of his stuff. It’s definitely edgy and different but, I’m a fan.

I LOVE the red off-the-shoulder dress you featured above…I would totally wear this and know that I would feel so sexy in it. I’m with Sarah on the pink high collar dress; that is really pretty. The cream knit (I’m guessing) reminds me of a black Betsey Johnson dress a college roommate let me borrow about 10 years ago only with sleeves. I also like the black dress and black fur bolero jacket. Some of this I could see being altered a tiny bit for real people and I like it. [TF]

Got something to say? Go for it!
