I thought in recognition of Katy Perry and her new husband Russel Brand tying the knot, it was only right to look back and recall her freshly manicured nails for the MTV Music awards. Not everyone can pull off their fiancé’s face plastered all over their nails! But being Katy Perry, she does crazy well.
Although, I don’t believe anyone will be following that trend, I do believe she may be onto something with her new and first nail polish collection for OPI available January 2011.
The color that I think will be a hit (especially among tweens) is “Black Shatter” — a shade of black that actually shatters after you paint it on! I am actually looking forward to trying it and seeing what all the hype is about. It supposedly creates a cracked/leopard pattern when applied over dried nail lacquer — hitting on the TBAF-reported trend that’s attempting a comeback: chipped nail polish.
The rest of the palate consists of very, how do I say, Katy Perry inspired colors? Each of the four colors are named after a Katy Perry song, “Teenage Dream” (glittery pink), “The One that Got Away” (burgundy), “Not Like the Movies” (metallic), and “Last Friday Night” (glittery blue).
Fans of KP will love it, and so will any other girls who like the glittery, dark, bold, and undeniable look we’ve come to expect from Perry.
If you can’t wait until January to try it for yourself, check out this video from the OPI fan page which shows what each color will look like and demonstrates “Black Shatter” over Serena Williams’ nail color “Simply Serene.”[Gallery not found]
