Living in the Bay Area has many perks! One of them being that we occasionally get access to some of the greatest in the Fashion Industry. Recently Neiman Marcus in Palo Alto held an event with the distinguished Ken Downing, and they’re doing it again by having an event featuring purses, shoes, jewelry and every other thing that makes our heart pitter patter with the stunning and brilliant Roopal Patel.

She comes from a fashion background many dream of, and spends time studying the runways of New York, Milan, Paris, and picks up trends and brings them to us in a way that makes it accessible to everyone! I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Patel to bring you each a preview into the event on Wednesday and accessory trends for Fall 2010.

She told me that Wednesday’s event will feature 12 key visions when it comes to Fall accessory trends. This event is promised to be informal and easy to navigate and learn from for all shoppers. Neiman Marcus is known for having the greatest “cheat sheet”, as she calls it bringing the hottest trends of the season to our fingertips. On Wednesday you can learn which boots, pearls, and bags to bring into your wardrobe this year!

When asked what every woman could incorporate into her wardrobe this year, she instantly said, “an investment handbag!” She spoke of classic bags like the Chanel 255, and told me of how Celine is quickly building an incredible following in Europe. “Every other woman is carrying a Celine bag in the streets of Paris. I’m waiting to see how that translates in the U.S.”

If you’re wondering who her top picks are when it comes to designers, you might be surprised! Her top picks are Alexander Wang and his revolutionary new designs, Karl Lagerfeld’s cult following and the direction he has taken the power house known as Chanel, and she’s excited about Celine and what they’re delivering to the accessory world!

I wanted to know what her choices were for those on a budget, and what fab find was first on her list. She said she would direct every woman looking for a fab find to the jewelry department to see which pearls speak to her. There are pearls with lace, leather, in large strands, and single lady like pieces. Pearls are abundant at Neiman’s for the rocker chic, all the way to the corporate woman, and anyone in between!

Her lux item almost made me fall out of my chair! For the woman who stays on top of trends, doesn’t miss a beat, who’s either at fashion week, or on the edge of her computer making sure she knows the trends before they hit the stores–she calls out the Balenciaga Papier Tote in Crocodile! I mean what’s not to love? The shape, material, and design are a masterpiece in the form of a hand bag. I hope to catch a glimpse of one soon!
