This past Friday marked the beginning of October and all things PINK for an entire month! Pink in October has come to symbolize the fight against breast cancer and what better way to show support and celebrate lives than with the Project Pink Runway Show. Westfield Valley Fair shopping center was the place to be Friday night and hosts Hasti Kashfia along with Slade Smiley and Gretchen Rossi were impeccable!
The atmosphere inside the tent was nothing short of sheer excitement! The huge white tent softly illuminated with hot pink lighting provided a fabulous backdrop for the evening’s festivities which included guest celebs, sensational Fall fashion, and most important, stories from the fighters and survivors themselves.
As I quietly sat in the audience with my sister, intently listening to these miraculous tales of detection and of fighting and survival, I couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion. I can honestly say that as much as I adore fashion, I got so much more out of listening to these ladies real-life battles and I learned so much! I was one of those girls who did not give breast cancer any credence whatsoever because well, no one in my family has ever had it. After Project Pink, I now KNOW better! Whether you’re family has a history or not, early detection is key and no one is exempt
I want to say thank you to the hosts of this amazing event and an even bigger thank you to the ladies who have battled and continue the battle against cancer. Your brave and inspirational stories touched me and opened my eyes; and here I thought I was just going to another fashion show!
Keep up the fight and can’t wait for Project Pink 2011!

I love to hear/read stories of people at a turning point. This is a great lesson that many of us are uneducated about so many things and that if we open ourselves to learning, we find out there was a lot for us to learn. Great job, Vanessa!
Thx!! Can’t wait for next year’s event!!
