This past weekend, Santana Row held their 2010 Fall Fashion Show. Special guests included Jay Nicolas Sario, Project Runway Season 7 runner-up, and designer Donald J. Pliner. The fashion show took place right in the middle of Santana Row. Many stopped on the sides to watch, as residents peered from their windows. But the best view of the latest fall trends and must-haves for the season was reserved for ticket holders. And this was not a show to miss!

The pre-show included delicious hors d’oeuvres and wine, as guests began entering to take their seats for the big show. Santana Row Marketing Director, Collette Navarrette, started out the show, welcoming attendees and reminding us of the people that will be aided from the sale of the tickets. The events during the two days benefited four local Bay Area non-profits–the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, EHC LifeBuilders, National Charity League, and Junior League of San Jose.

We had a chance to interview Collette prior to the show:

TBAF: What do you like best about your job?
C: I love my job at Santana Row! All I do all day is walk around Santana Row, talk to merchants, and look at fabulous fashion.

TBAF: What do you think makes Santana Row so popular?
C: The combination of restaurants, retailers, and living here. You can do anything at Santana Row. You can shop; you can dine; you can live; you can play!

TBAF: What are some of your favorite looks from the fashion show?
C: Boots for fall, layering, lots of dresses. I love the camel and gray, and you can pair them together.

TBAF: How does this fashion show vary from ones in the past?
C: This is our 6th annual fashion show. It is especially special because we have Jay Sario from Project Runway here tonight. Earlier today, we had Donald J. Pliner make a personal appearance.

TBAF: What events can people look forward to from Santana Row in the future?
C: We have something called the Santana Stroll (this event is coming up Wednesday, October 13) where people have the opportunity to walk around and shop throughout Santana Row while enjoying wine and food.

Jay Nicolas Sario soon made his way on stage and set-up the runway show to begin. Fall Fashion in the Park featured designs from 17 Santana Row stores for both men and women. Stores included Ted Baker, Pink Stripes, Anne Fontaine, and Oakley. Items included many of the seasons latest trends, such as the military look, tall boots, and lush leather structured bags. The fashion show worked to engage the audience, making it playful and enjoyable for everyone that attended.

After the show, guests were invited to the post-show bash at Ted Baker. There, everyone had the chance to meet with Jay, as well as shop from the fabulous fall collection from this UK brand. We interviewed a few of the fashion show attendees to see what they thought of the show. Maddie’s favorite looks from the show came from Anthropologie and Priscilla of Boston. Her favorite fall must-have item was any from the great selection of boots featured. Marissa loved Anne Fontaine and wanted every piece from her collection for the season.

Model Malita found modeling in Fashion in the Park to be fun and theatrical. No stranger to the Row, Malita has modeled at several Santana Row events. Her favorite brand from the show was Donald J. Pliner, and she was excited to meet him earlier that day. For a male perspective, we interviewed Rolando. He loved the Marilyn Monroe sweater from St. Croix, and would pair it with a pair of jeans for a more youthful look. Rolando says the must-have fall item for men is a great boot.

If you didn’t get a chance to attend Fall Fashion in the Park, be sure to visit Santana Row to get the latest fall looks. We’ll keep you updated on upcoming events from Santana Row. Don’t miss out on their next amazing fashion show!
