Female Hockey Fan-Wear

What’s almost as exciting as Fall Fashion Week? In San Jose, it’s hockey season! Yes, our beloved Sharks are almost back, the games are about to begin, and most importantly—what are you going to wear to The Tank?

There are now more options than your boyfriend’s over-sized, pajama-looking jersey. Several years ago the NHL, realizing that its fan base was of more than one gender, began selling jerseys in a slimmer cut. Of course, there are also plenty of non-jersey options like t-shirts, sweaters and hoodies.

However, the latest offering from the NHL is about as big a Sharks fashion don’t as a Chris Pronger jersey. I give you the Reebok San Jose Sharks Women’s Champagne Jersey.

The RSJSWCJ has gone all out with sparkles and studs. If you think it can’t get any worse, turn the jersey around. Will you find a player’s name or number. No, it just says the team’s name. There are so many other options out there, there is no need to wear these, girls.  Check out a few of my picks to wear at San Jose’s favorite night out.

The fitted home jersey with the classic sharks logo. No name, no sparkles, just a Sharks jersey with a nice fit.

For last season’s playoffs, I sported the coolest SJ urban fan wear. Made locally, it’s the “I Heart San Jose” t-shirt. It fits perfect, and everyone will be asking where you got that shirt from (tell them The Usuals on The Alameda—it’s right down the street from HP Pavilion). They come in a variety of colors and the shark bite is great touch.

If those don’t work, please don’t go buy the bedazzled jersey, stay clear from the hot pink mess of a jersey too, and try to refrain form raiding your boyfriend’s closet. Just go homemade. Make your own shirt. I did this one year for the former Shark, Jonathan Cheechoo. It shows true dedication to your team, and even if it looks ridiculous, at least the choice of how ridiculous is entirely your own. Extra points to the girl who buys a terry cloth Juicy Couture hoodie and stitches the name and number of SJ Shark rookie Logan Couture on the back.

What do the rest of you think? And what will you be wearing to the games this year?

Thanks Sharksfan! Sure, I got mine awhile back, so the logo has changed since then. But same fitted jersey, just a new updated look and sporting the teal color @ http://www.fansedge.com/San-Jose-Sharks-Womens-Teal-Premier-Team-Jersey-_157316920_PD.html?froogle=62-02262
Its 79.99. And definitely worth it!

It may be a fashion “don’t”, but I will continue to wear my jersey to Sharks games because it is covered in players’ autographs. Mine is the all white version, and I have a logoed hat that is light purple and was purchased in support of cancer research. I don’t like the flashy stuff either, and the ‘official’ branded stuff rarely fits us plus-sized gals very well. [FB] :)

I am not a fan of pink sports clothing unless the teams colors are pink…and I’m not sure of any. Just because we are women who enjoy sports, why do we have to be subjected to so much pink? (there is a difference if you buy something pink in support of breast cancer research or something of that nature) I love the last “I <3 SJ" t-shirt – very cute! The fitted jerseys in the appropriate Sharks colors are great, but please stay away from anything that sparkles more than your eyes when you go to sporting events. [fb]

Got something to say? Go for it!
