I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Bravo star of Million Dollar Listing; Chad Rogers. Located in the West Coast Mecca of Fashion itself, Beverly Hills, I got insight into the personal and professional fashion of the man himself, and a look into what’s in store in the future for Chad, and you the readers!
Joe Fashion: Congrats on the success of the show, any projects you’re working on you’d like our readers to know about before we get into our fashion questionnaire?
Chad Rogers: Yeah, I’m in the middle of writing a book, which will be out in September. It will give everyone advice how to make the smartest investments when it comes to buying and selling real estate.
Joe Fashion: Fantastic, sounds like a definite must read. Here come the fashion questions, you ready?
Chad Rogers: I am all set.
Joe Fashion: How important is fashion in the world of real estate, especially being in Los Angeles?
Chad Rogers: It actually goes up exponentially being in Los Angeles. This is a city where image is everything, and let’s face it, this is Hollywood, and you’re working with a lot of high profile clientele. Fashion to me, is an extension of your personality, and I feel like people relate and connect to real estate agents that are able to dress their personality. Because when you’re comfortable with who you are, you’re not afraid to show it, and when you show it through fashion, a certain type of confidence comes through it, and out of that confidence comes trust. People are immediately connected to other people when they can trust them, and put their confidence in that person. Especially when it comes to buying and selling property, given that it is one of the biggest investments someone makes in their life. You want to be able to trust your real estate agent. Fashion is a big part of that.
Joe Fashion: Given that real estate is your main forte, who inspires you professionally?
Chad Rogers: Donald Trump has always been an idol of mine. I like the fact that basically he wears his personality 24/7. Between his hair, his red tie, he’s branded himself really based on the way he dresses, and the way he looks. That’s the same route that I’m going, because obviously it worked for him, and it’s working for me.
Joe Fashion: Now, have you always been fashionable? Or is that something you gradually grew into as you got older?
Chad Rogers: Honestly it’s something I grew into. I went through as stage, with white t-shirts, baggy jeans, and black leather jackets. I basically looked like the Fonz. And then I kinda got out of that stage, and it was actually Victoria who got me very much into fashion, because she is an assistant designer. She’s always had a great eye for clothes, and what looks good. And I discovered all these great fashion sources through Victoria, because now I see what good fashion can do for me, and how it affects how I come off to my clients.
Joe Fashion: Would you mind sharing a few of your favorite designers or places to shop?
Chad Rogers: Yes, I definitely love TOPSHOP. I was just in New York and had a field day there. Especailly in this economy, it’s important to save anywhere you can. You don’t have to walk into armani and spend a fortune to dress to impress. That’s why I love TOPSHOP, because it’s cutting edge fashion, at a fraction of the cost of what you might pay elsewear. I also love Dior. I’m actually wearing Dior skinny jeans right now. If I didn’t wear the skinny jeans, i’d be unrecognizable.
Joe Fashion: You’ve definitely built up an image for yourself. You’re practically synonymous with the skinny jeans, and the hairstyle…
Chad Rogers: It’s important when you put yourself out there, that you are who you are. You only have one chance to show the world your style and what you represent, and I am who I am.
Joe Fashion: You only get one chance to make a first impression right?
Chad Rogers: Yes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. That’s my motto.
Joe Fashion: Speaking of first impressions, being that you’re in Los Angeles, is there any celebrity that you’ve been mistaken for?
Chad Rogers: (laugh) I think that’s a heated question. But yeah, there’s a few. And I definitely don’t think I look as young as this guy, but I get it a lot because of the hair…Justin Bieber.
Joe Fashion: No way…
Chad Rogers: Yeah, and they’ve been putting it on my twitter page, and they think it’s hilarious. They call me Chad “Bieber” Rogers.
Joe Fashion: That’s too funny! Anyone else?
Chad Rogers: Yeah, there’s someone else, his names Mitchel Muso. I think he’s on Nickelodeon or Disney network. I’m always getting compared to the young guys, but there’s no complaints here.
Joe Fashion: Final (and possibly most important question). Bigger lady magnet, you, or Starla?
Chad Rogers: You know what, I would definitely say Starla. That’s why she has to go everywhere I go!
Funny story, I showed Paris [Hilton] a few houses in Malibu about a month and I half ago. And we stopped to grab lunch. And I figured I didn’t want Starla to wait in the car, so I took her out. Now Paris didn’t know I had her, cause she was driving her own car. And right when she saw Starla, it was love at first sight. Then when she found out that Starla has a twitter page, she began to tweet Starla all the time! Once people saw that, Starla went from having 1,000 followers to 1,700 in two and a half hours! Go figure!
She helps me sell a bunch of houses; I gotta keep her!
Joe Fashion: Thanks so much for your time Chad, best of luck to you and Starla both!
Chad Rogers: Yeah man, it’s been a pleasure!
