You’re going to be shocked, but I have to say it. I’ve never been a fan of thrift stores, and I probably never will be. I like the smell, touch, and look of anything new. I prefer to even lease my car because I love knowing there is a new one right around the corner. But as much as I don’t like thrift stores, I love vintage!
What’s the difference? Well it depends on who you ask, and since you’re on my blog you get my opinion. Vintage to me has the ability to be timeless. It can be contemporary and fashion forward, AND have history and character. My favorite type of vintage is designer- but no shock there. I believe it takes talent to separate the “just old” from the “hidden treasures” that will turn heads, and create unique looks.
That is why I was excited to find a local treasure based right out of the the Bay Area. American Apocalypse is the creation of Co-Founders Brooke Candy & Rachel Lena Esterline. As stated on their web-site, American Apocalypse has one mission: “To reinvent your closet as well as your personal style. You don’t need to be rich to be a part of the apocalypse, you just have to be willing to get your hands dirty. Personal style comes from a place of confidence, not of wealth. American Apocalypse is here to reinforce that confidence by providing you with choice vintage clothing that has been hand picked from all around the Bay Area for its new found relevancy or its screaming attitude.”
So make sure you check out www.americanapocalypse415.com for amazing, beautiful vintage finds. And a word to the wise, if you see something you like, buy it. Nothing lasts on this site for more than a few days, or hours with some items. Also try to think outside of the box if you’ve never experimented with vintage. Everyone can wear it, but you just need to style it in a way that’s true to you. Also make sure you look for pieces that blend into your wardrobe, and can compliment already existing pieces. Just remember once you’re hooked there is no going back.
Have fun looking around, and I can’t wait to see what you pick up!

This is great stuff, but I love the hunt. There is nothing like finding a great vintage treasure yourself for a steal of a price.
