Michael Kors Fall 2010

Designer: Michael Kors

Season: Fall 2010

Location: Saks 5th Ave., San Francisco

I want this entire collection! I would be happy mixing and matching one exquisite piece after another from this American sportswear inspired collection for my fall wardrobe. I loved the soft, inviting feel of the neutral colors, along side embellished exquisite evening gowns, and illustrious fur pieces. Now I understand that fur isn’t for everyone, but if it is for you, there are pieces in this collection that you mustn’t miss!

I have always believed that Michael Kors dresses the feminine form better than most females, and this collection was another testament to that. Every cut, fit, and angle is made to flatter the figure and accentuate the female silhouette. Upon my first glance, I fell in love. Amongst hundreds of immaculate details, the slits on the elbows of the jackets and sweaters was my absolute favorite. Another detail that caught my eye was the creative and subtle use of suede or leather in many of pieces. I had altogether given up on leather, hating the bulky way it stood on my body. But these pieces have the opposite affect, bringing femininity to anyone who wears it.

Besides the clothing, watching Kors with his clients was an experience in itself. It’s no wonder he designs one flattering look after another. Within seconds of looking at one of his clients, he had pulled out at least 5 looks that were just for her—styled in a unique manner to fit her body and her personality. I witnessed Kors do this time and time again. I watched woman after woman beam with joy as she was dressed in what could have been a couture look, made exclusively for her.

Having watched Michael Kors for years on Project Runway, I had often heard him criticize contestants for ill-fitting garments, unaware of how to work with a woman’s body. It was obvious that this wasn’t just something he preached, but it was something that the master designer himself clearly brought to life in his fall 2010 collection.

The collection is currently available at certain locations for pre-sale. While Kors won’t be there to dress you, you can rest assured that his extraordinary taste, design, cut, and use of the most breathtaking fabrics, will be with you every step of the way!
