Are You Ready For Mother's Day?

I had a great Sunday afternoon planned out for my annual pre-Mother’s Day celebration with my Mom! Since my Mom and I both like to have a relaxing Mother’s Day, we decided to take a little shopping trip together at one of our favorite shopping spots the week before the big day. Unfortunately, my Mom took a fall over the weekend and broke her arm.

After I made sure she was better, my sister, sister-in-law, and I headed out together to see what we could find for her for Mother’s Day. I wanted to personally take her shopping, but due to her arm injury, she really can’t do dressing rooms or crowds right now. Trusting my taste in fashion, she told me to surprise her! To make things interesting we decided to start at the opposite side of where we always start. We started our Mother’s Day shopping by Men’s Macy’s. Weird, I know.

Now I know many of you ladies have forgotten about this part of the mall. Between Men’s Macy’s, Franco Uomo, and an athletic store, you wonder what could you possibily find there. Well, a lot. We decided to venture into “Planet Beauty.” None of us had ever checked this place out, and we loved it! You may not know this, but there is a full beauty store in Valley Fair. Besides the great staff, my sister found a bareMinerals lipgloss that she had been looking months for- she was actually on a waiting list at another store! After 30+ years, my Mom finally decided to grow her hair out. We found this place to be the perfect spot to get her brushes, hair accessories, and styling products. We also picked out 2 great colors by OPI only be told to pick out a free one! You know where I’ll be getting my nail polishes from now on!

My Mom is a huge Ann Taylor fan, but always forgets to check out Ann Taylor Loft. We headed in to see what we could find. I was excited to find beautiful feminine shirts, with modern details for under $40. If you’re on a budget, but want to get something she’s sure to use, these shirts are sure to please. After paying for our items, we headed over to GAP to check out the sale and the new denim and safari trends. We found so many great things for her and ourselves! The RED shirts are especially great right now, having encorporated unique designs and art on every piece of the new collection. Since my Mom won’t wear short shorts, we found a great selection bermuda shorts and capris that she will love for the spring and summer.

We took a quick break, refilled our caffeine tanks at Starbucks, picked up a few goodies, and were back on our mission! We told ourselves that we were going to skip over J. Crew because there was no way we could go in without doing some damage ourselves. Somehow we still ended up in there, and the -inevitable happened. We all walked out of there with something. Now this is a GREAT spot to get something for Mom. The jewelry is beautiful and modern, yet classic. Also they’ve taken the come back of bright 80′s colored clothing, and added their own spin, making it a fashion that anyone can wear. Another favorite item that caught all of our eyes was the perfect flat nude shoe. This shoe will work year round, and with the soft leather and detailed craftsmanship, this comfortable shoe is a must have!

Since we got distracted we were running short on time so we headed over to Macy’s since they’re open past the regular mall hours. We wanted to find the perfect Mother’s Day outfit for her. We walked by my obsession, Rachel Roy for Macy’s, and even picked up some HOT Michael Kors shoes for ourselves! Not one to disappoint when it comes to options, Macy’s gave us a wide variety of items to choose from. However one look stood out to us, and practically screamed “Mom.” We ended up choosing the most beautiful outfit from Jones New York, full of bright colors and a great modern floral print! I really can’t wait to see her wear it!

By the end of the day, we were exhausted, but really happy too. Not only did we have a great time bonding, shopping, and talking fashion, but we were able to find some amazing deals! I don’t think there is anywhere else I would have liked to go for Mother’s Day shopping. With some of the best selection of designers and products all under one roof, Westfield Valley Fair is never one to disappoint. Now if you still need some ideas, here is a list of other stores with a great selection for Mother’s Day gifts:

Sephora: A huge selection of fragrances, cosmetics, and skin care products.

Levi’s: You can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans! With the denim trend back stronger than ever, this is a great spot!

Lush: This store is filled with unique soaps, body washes, and bath supplies like you’ve never seen. This is a store you need to check out and see for yourself!

Picture People: We still haven’t taken our family pics, but will be calling to make an appointment soon. I can’t imagine a sweeter Mother’s Day gift than a family picture.

I hope I was able to provide some helpful suggestions for the perfect gift for Mother’s Day! If you’re still undecided, then I recommend the Westfield gift card. That way she can pick out her own special gift without worrying about having to pay for it. I wish all of you moms out there a very happy Mother’s Day!

I go to Valley Fair quite often and am a bit embarrassed to admit that I had NO idea that there is a beauty store near the men’s Macy’s. Holy Cow ~ this had got to be Valley Fair’s best kept secret!! My sister and I have not selected what to get Mom for Mother’s Day (I know, we are soo indecisive). My mom loves spring colors and can really use some new blush, neutral nailpolish colors, and definitely some hair accessories. (She has always wanted clip-on extensions).I can’t wait to shop here and check out the makeup! We are going to get a cute purse for Mom and load it with all sorts of makeup and goodies from the beauty store — Thanks to this blog!! ~Happy Mother’s Day Mom ♥ ~ (MAY)
