I’d like to introduce you all to a terrific cologne : John Varvatos; Vintage. My wife loves it. The end.
For all intensive purposes my review should begin and end there. The ultimate compliment for any man.
Because fact is, that cologne can be a scary thing to buy. You don’t want to smell like your dad. And you certainly don’t want to smell like her dad. On the other hand, you don’t want to smell like a field of flowers either (at least I don’t; my apologies to floral enthusiasts everywhere)
John Varvatos has done something fantastic with this cologne. Bringing together the “old” and “new” of men’s fragrance, he’s managed to make a fantastic cologne that can truly appeal to any age group.
With hints of rhubarb, quince, absinthe and spices; a heart of lavender, cinnamon leave, jasmine, orris and fir balsam and a dry down of patchouli, oak moss, tonka bean, tobacco and suede accents, it truly has a smell unlike any other fragrance I’ve seen out there.
In English and fewer words; it smells really, really good.
And while I typically have gotten bored with many of my colognes after just a few weeks, this simply has not been the case this time around. Like fresh baked cookies, or laundry fresh from the dryer, Vintage has that eclectic quality, that smells superb, each time, every time, without fail.
But don’t merely take my word for it, take your significant other, and checkbook, and go look for yourself. Priced at only $57-$77, it’s a small price to pay for fragrance of this caliber.
And in the immortal words of the Fresh Price of Bel Air, “Yo Holmes, smell you later”
