‘Giving Back Goes Glam’-Recap

Last Saturday, hundreds of people came out to “Glam Gives Back,” the runway charity event at Westfield Valley Fair, with proceeds going to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. Guests came out to support a worthwhile charity, and have some food and fun! I was so excited to see what the stores were going to show for Spring and Summer trends, and to see how it would be received by all the great Bay Area Shoppers!

The evening started with drinks, food, chocolates, and gift bags holding a variety of goodies. Items included full sized cosmetics by Stilla provided by Artizia and a $50 gift card from Frank Uomo (now mind you, the donation was $25, so you were already ahead at this point.) Once we took our seats, we saw tons of people gather around the VIP section in hopes of getting a glimpse of the event. As soon as the DJ started the music, the energy quickly grew and the models came out. Now my favorite part of the event was the models. Many of the models were the employees from the stores themselves coming out, putting it all out there all for a charity. Beautiful people of every shape and size rocked the runway and showed the audience their favorite looks.

The trends were right on point. There was a definite safari feel to the clothes shown by Banana Republic, and GAP. Artizia was true to it’s modern, trendy, fashion forward feel. Frank Uomo featured great looks for men, from jeans and leather jackets, to three piece suits. But I have to say, the ladies from Betsey Johnson and Lane Bryant OWNED it! The energy level hit a high when the cutting edge fashion of Betsey Johnson, combined with its trademark hair and makeup, and added flirtatious balloons, hit the runway. The looks were edgy and fun, but separately, the pieces could fit into any wardrobe. I was specifically drawn to the tights and the leggings that the models wore.

With the controversy currently surrounding Lane Bryant, I was wondering what looks were going to walk down the runway. Although lingerie didn’t make it, a chic one piece black bathing suit was the first item that walked the runway. One after another, the ladies of Lane Bryant served attitude and confidence to all of us watching! It was a moment to be proud of. And judging by the sound of the audience, very well received and loved.

I really enjoyed the show and was glad to see that so many people came together in the name of fashion to support a great cause and bring awareness for Earth Day. For more information on the charity check out the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley at www.wcsv.org/facebook.

I look forward to more events like it and am very excited about what Westfield is bringing to the Bay Area.

Now here comes the fun part. Share what you bought from the fashion show or what are you going to get from the looks that were modeled, and you can win a $100 gift card to Westfield Valley Fair! The winner will be chosen Friday morning!

Of all the looks that were featured, without doubt – I truly loved the Betsey Johnson outfits. They were spunky, unique, and fun at the same time. Although I would not wear the complete outfits exactly like the models, I will coordinate select items in my wardrobe to mix things up and reinvent outfits. I liked the soft-pink layer dress with the black leggings. It was cute and fits my fashionista personality. I can spruce it up with a thick belt at my waist and wear it to a night-time party, but I can also wear this dress with a soft crème cardigan to a Sunday brunch. These styles helped me see that I can wear an outfit several different ways! Betsey Johnson Rocks!

What an AWESOME experience that was! I think Westfield blew this one out the water. I remembered thinking the whole time…this CAN’T be happening in San Jose? Anyone else???? lol

The energy was great, the looks were even better, and the heart behind the show, the Wildlife center….was the icing on the cake!

If I had to pick what impressed the most (and influenced me to want to make headway at the mall this week!) I’d have to say Lane Bryant for sure!

Although, being a little bit of a bigger girl…I may be biased ;)

    Thanks for the pictures!

The fashion show was plenty exciting – in fact, my husband sat beside me the entire time! (can you believe it!) I liked the fashion show and the Banana Republic outfits particularly for my husband who hates shopping. I showed him a few things the models were wearing and he agreed to some of the pieces. We are definitely getting him a nice khaki jacket! Hmmmmm….now, if I can just get him to buy a nice formal suit! By the way, when is the next show?

heyy guys…i think that everything featured from Lane Bryant was super nice. My aunt is a plus size and I am glad I dragged her to this show. I told her that her body is beautiful and she can still be sexy – just look at Lane Bryant’s outfits! The girls rocked ‘em! I would love to buy something for Aunt K from that store…maybe a dress that makes her feel feminine! =) wahoO!
